Jonah

DAY 1 OF 5

Running from God

Jonah’s story begins with a divine assignment – God calls him to Nineveh to preach repentance. But instead of obeying, Jonah runs. Not only is he fleeing the mission, but he’s also running from the presence of God. Fear, pride, or even resentment may have driven his decision, but Jonah mistakenly thought that distance could silence God’s voice. Have you ever done the same? When God calls us to step out in faith, it can be tempting to run in the opposite direction, thinking that avoidance will bring peace. But true peace only comes from surrendering to God’s will.

The beautiful truth is that even when we run, God doesn’t abandon us. His love is relentless, and His plans for us are always for our good. Are you avoiding something God has placed on your heart? Instead of running, take a step of obedience today. You might be surprised at what He does through you.

Prayer: Lord, give me the courage to obey Your call. Help me trust that Your way is better than mine. No matter how far I run, draw me back into Your presence. Amen.
