Stick Together

DAY 8 OF 28

Reading the Bible can feel intimidating sometimes. But one simple way of studying Scripture is called S.O.A.P. It stands for "Scripture," "Observation," "Application," and "Prayer." We'll show you how—it's easy!

S: Scripture

If you haven't already, read today's passage of Scripture. Then summarize it in your own words.

O: Observation

Read Philippians 2:1–4 again.

  • What traits of good friendship do you see being described?
  • What does it teach us about what wise friends look like?
  • What questions do you still have about this passage?

A: Application

Do you think being like-minded means agreeing about everything? Why or why not?

What's something that keeps you from putting others first? How can you set that aside today?

What would it look like to for you to pursue friendships built on mutual selflessness?

P: Prayer

Spend some time praying to God about the friends who have the most influence on you. Ask for help seeing ways you have been selfish, and ask God to show how other people's self-centered actions may have influenced you. Then, thank God for Jesus' example of humility and forgiveness.

About this Plan

Stick Together

Think about your favorite adventure stories where friends go on epic journeys, face challenges, and stick together through it all. Those stories make you wonder: Do I have friends like that? Am I that kind of friend? We all want solid friendships with people who stick with us no matter what life brings, and the Bible gives us wisdom about how to build those relationships. For the next 28 days, we’ll explore what God has to say about how we can have—and be—good friends. We'll see how choosing wise friends will help us navigate any adventure we face.
