Your Name Is Daughterಮಾದರಿ

Day 6: The Spirit is for Everyone
At the very start of a miraculous moment in church history, the Spirit of God was poured out on both men and women. God’s daughters are clearly invited to participate in every way in the kingdom of God.
Sons and daughters are both invited to be empowered by the Spirit of God for the kingdom. The Spirit was then and is now moving and crossing every kind of border—social, ethnic, and physical. He was and is poured out on both men and women for God’s glory.
Paul names five different gifts given by God in Ephesians 4:11-13: apostles, prophets, evangelists, shepherds (pastors), and teachers. The Spirit has equipped both sons and daughters to give His gifts to build up the body.
In the Bible, we see apostles who are pioneering and taking new territory in the kingdom of God like Peter, John, Priscilla, and Mary.
We see prophets who hear God and challenge the status quo like Isaiah, Jeremiah, Huldah, and Anna.
We see evangelists who are recruiters for the kingdom of God like Peter and Lydia.
We see shepherds who care and counsel in the kingdom of God, like Barnabas, Lois, and Eunice.
We see teachers who explain and communicate the Scriptures like Apollos, Phoebe, Priscilla, and Aquila.
All kinds of sons and daughters are doing all kinds of work. The Spirit will go where He wants and loves to bring glory through both sons and daughters. May we encourage, make space, and fan into flames the gifts we see in everyone around us for the kingdom of God.
We need your gifts, daughter. There’s nothing you cannot do if God has called you to it.
Prayer for today: God, thank you that the Spirit gives gifts to all. Help me to use my gifts for your glory in whatever way you see fit. Amen.

About this Plan

Based on the book Your Name is Daughter, this Bible plan shows that from the beginning, God created women and men equal in dignity, value, and worth. But our identity as God's daughters has been contested, both inside and outside of the church, and we're left wondering where we belong. Sharing stories of the unsung women of the Bible, beloved author Amy Seiffert empowers you to stand firm in your dignity as a Daughter of the King, exchanging fear and doubt for confidence and faith.
