Chunky Blankets & Deep Breaths

DAY 4 OF 4

Holding the Mug with Both Hands

“In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength…” —Isaiah 30:15 (NIV)

When life feels like it’s fraying at the edges, your body knows before your mind does. You might find yourself cradling a mug with both hands—not as a strategy, but as surrender. A moment of stillness. A breath you forgot you needed.

Just breathing.

This is more than comfort. It’s a return.

God spoke through Isaiah to a people worn thin by striving and self-made solutions. His offer? Not more hustle—but healing through rest. “In repentance and rest is your salvation,” He says. “In quietness and trust is your strength.”

Isaiah spoke these words to people running on adrenaline and alliances—trying to solve fear with human strength. But God’s offer was the opposite: rest. Not as a luxury, but as the actual way forward. Repentance. Rest. Quiet. Trust. These are not accessories to faith. They are its spine.

Jesus echoes this gentle call:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28, NIV)

This is your permission slip to stop solving and start settling into grace. To stop performing and start receiving peace. Even the Son of God took time to rest, to retreat, to nap in the middle of a storm. If the Savior paused, you can too.

So, let this moment remind you: you are not holding everything together. God is. You’re not the Savior. You’re the beloved.

You don’t have to have it all together to be deeply held by the One who already does.

Breath Prayer:

I don’t have to rush. I’m allowed to rest. Thank You for that gift, Jesus.

We hope this Plan encouraged you. This plan is lifted from the book "Chunky Blankets & Deep Breaths" by Heather Hair. Settle in for a rest, Heather's ministry resources are here by clicking this link.
