Reading With the People of God #15 Purpose

DAY 11 OF 31

Purpose Amidst the Realities of Life and Spiritual Battle

Ecclesiastes 5:8-20 confronts us with the realities of injustice, toil, and the fleeting nature of wealth. We are reminded that much of life’s labor feels beyond our control and that true satisfaction comes from trusting God and finding joy in the gifts He provides. Our purpose is not found in accumulating riches or power, but in a thankful heart and a life lived before God.

In Ephesians 6, Paul turns our attention to the unseen spiritual realities that impact our lives. Verse 12 warns us that our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of evil.

As you reflect on these teachings, consider how your purpose calls you to live faithfully amid both life’s uncertainties and the spiritual battles that surround you, anchored in God’s protection and power.

Reflection Question:
How does recognizing the spiritual realities around you influence the way you live out your purpose each day?

Prayer of Illumination:
Father, open my eyes to the unseen spiritual battles that surround me. Help me to stand firm in your strength and live purposefully in the midst of life’s uncertainties. Fill me with faith, courage, and wisdom to walk in your protection and to glorify you in all circumstances. Amen.

About this Plan

Reading With the People of God #15 Purpose

This is the fifteenth installment of our Bible reading plan, following a lectionary-style pattern with daily readings from the Psalms, Old Testament, and New Testament. Each day includes a devotional primer to guide your time in God’s Word. This month’s theme is purpose. In Ecclesiastes, we question what truly matters. Song of Songs reveals the purpose of love and relationships. Paul’s letters call us to live with clarity, identity, and mission in Christ. Together, these books invite us to discover God’s purpose—and how it shapes every part of our lives.
