Day 12: You're Not the Only One
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 10:13a (NIV)
"No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind."
Common. That word is doing a lot of work.
Whatever you're struggling with, whatever the thing is that you think makes you uniquely broken or uniquely weak, Paul says it's common. Not to minimize it. Not to dismiss how hard it is. But to break the lie that you're alone in it.
Addiction's most powerful weapon is isolation. It convinces you that your specific struggle is too shameful to share, too weird to admit, too far gone for anyone to understand. So you carry it alone. And carrying it alone makes it heavier. And heavier things are harder to put down.
The moment you say it out loud to another person, something shifts. Not because saying it fixes it. But because it breaks the isolation. It takes the thing out of the dark where it's been growing and brings it into the light where it can actually be dealt with.
You don't have to share it with everyone. You don't have to post about it. You just need one person. A leader. A mentor. A trusted friend. Someone who can say "me too" or "I see you" or "let's figure this out together."
That person exists in your life. You might already know who it is. The question is whether you're willing to take the risk of letting them in.
Reflect: Who is one person in your life you could trust with your struggle? What's kept you from telling them?
Today: Take one step toward that person. You don't have to tell them everything today. Just move toward them. Send a message. Ask to talk. Start the conversation.
