AUTHORITY OF THE CROSS

When we accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior we put to death our old self. Our past sins and failures were nailed to the cross along with Christ never to enslave us again. When we submitted to the Cross of Christ we came out of the authority of sin and into the authority of Christ. Jesus half-dead hanging on a piece of wood declared the most powerful phrase uttered in human history: “It is finished”. Sin is finished, the reign of Satan is finished, you're old-self is finished. With these three words he announced a new era of grace into the world. The cross is the final say in the fight against sin, and it has declared us free. Therefore, we no longer put our faith into good works, but into the finished work of the cross. The cross has granted us authority over sin and death, we fear nothing but God and serve no one but our Savior. Paul said it best, “to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”
