Go And Tell: Devotions From Time Of Grace

DAY 5 OF 7

God’s POV

Normally a ministry of a year and a half would be thought of as terribly short. But for St. Paul it was a huge investment of time and demonstrated a mission field that was unusually productive. Paul was a rapid traveler and planter; he left it to others to do the longer-term teaching and harvesting.

He had encountered severe hostility early on in Corinth, and he might have left early but for this amazing revelation given to him in a vision at night: “‘Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent. For I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city.’ So Paul stayed for a year and a half, teaching them the word of God” (Acts 18:9-11).

Imagine that--God can see great potential in a certain place and correctly anticipate openness to the gospel. We never know in advance where to do effective evangelism and mission work because our point of view (POV) is so clouded. Unlike God, we can’t read minds and hearts. But God’s POV senses people movements and openings, and he steers human resources where they are needed.

Lord, show us today where the opportunities are. When you see a place where you have many future believers, move us to be there.
