God and My Emotions: Devotions From Time of GraceSample

Good Drugs
Drugs are everywhere in our country. Sad and desperate people buy crack and crystal meth to ease the pain of their lives and to get numb.
The best drug of all, however, is not a chemical at all. It does not need a doctor’s prescription, and there is no downside risk of addiction or overdose. “A cheerful heart is good medicine,” says Proverbs 17:22. The point: You are not completely at the mercy of your moods. You can choose your attitude because of the things God has told you in His Word.
Your body is a thing of beauty, designed by God to be His temple. You are loved with an everlasting love. Your sins are forgiven. The angels of heaven hover with divine protection. Your life is a divine mission that only you can perform, and at its end you will be welcomed into glory forever. You are immortal.
When you ponder these joyful things, how can your heart not be cheerful? How can you not feel better at once?
