DAY 2: The Path

“For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water. After the stirring of the water, whoever stepped in first was healed of whatever disease he had. A certain man was there who had an illness for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he had been in that condition now a long time, He said to him, ‘Do you want to be healed?’ The sick man answered Him, ‘Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred. But while I am coming, another steps down before me.’” – John 5:4-7

Are you kidding me? He was sick for thirty-eight years but did nothing! Couldn’t he have rolled over to the edge of the pool at some point during those thirty-eight years? I’m serious! He acknowledges his sickness (step one), but then he does nothing, just depending on others to do it for him. Not me and not you! It is time for us to deal with your sickness! We have the power to change! Why? Because we are not going to lean on our own understanding. We are going to lean on God, from whom we draw our power to conquer whatever plagues us.

To be unwell is to say our path was not straight. Our path was bent, crooked. Satan influenced us to head down the wrong path, and he did it intentionally. There were signs along the way, but we ignored them. We trudged on. We therefore became sick. It’s a natural progression. But we have been awakened to this reality, and it is not a reality that we have to live with or suffer through any longer. We have realized that we can take responsibility knowing we are in full and complete control to do something about it. God declared a different plan and a different path for you.
