Prayer and Fasting 

How do you overcome an incurable disease or impossible problem? 

An impossible miracle is portrayed in the movie “The 33” (mature content). “The 33” is about 33 miners trapped 2,300-foot deep in an old mine in Northern Chile in 2010. They’re faced with only three days of food, practically no water and a piece of rock the weight of two Empire State buildings sealing their exit for 69 days. One miner, Mario, played by Antonio Banderas, extols them to fast and hope. One is an evangelical minister, who prays in the name of Jesus, leads the alcoholic miner to Jesus and gives the miners hope.

When faced with the incurable and impossible, Jesus says that these problems and demons can only be resolved and cast out with praying and fasting (Matthew 17:19-21).

In 1990, Dr. Bill Bright called together many Christian leaders and asked them to fast and pray for the country for 40 days. I said to myself, “This is ridiculous. I enjoy food.” But even so, I fasted and prayed for 40 days, and miracles happened. Then, in 1993, we produced a big event in Hollywood called the Annual Faith & Values Awards Gala to encourage Hollywood Entertainment Industry leaders to produce more movies with faith and values. I didn’t expect it, but God filled the room with many Hollywood executives. The next year, we did a bigger Gala, so I started fasting and praying every year for 40 days, and then I ate a lot during the rest of the year to make up for it!

Therefore, if you have an impossible problem or incurable disease, try what Jesus Christ suggested in “The Book of Matthew”: fasting and prayer. You can cast out the demons of our age by fasting and praying in the name of Jesus.

Father, I am facing an impossible problem [explain to God what your problem or situation is]. Please help me focus on You and Your solution through fasting and prayer. I am weak, but You are strong. Help me fast and pray and deliver me from my problem in Jesus Christ’s Name by the power of the Holy Spirit.
