Cultivating Habits Of GraceSample

Day 2: Hear God's Voice
Next steps:
Whether you’ve tried before to “meditate” on God’s Word, or not, give it a fresh attempt today. Think of a short biblical text (just a verse or two) you’ve studied or memorized in the past and feel like you know well. Set a timer for just two minutes, and focus your mind on the truth of the verse, and seek to apply it to your heart, for the full two minutes. Ask God to help you feel the truth of the passage, and seek to feel it not by focusing on your heart, but by focusing on the truth of the text. (Experienced Bible meditators may want to take more than two minutes, but for starters, two minutes can be a good place to begin; if you’re on a roll when the timer sounds, by all means keep going!)
Consider “diversifying the portfolio” of your Bible intake. Think through the various ways you are already taking in God’s Word directly and indirectly on a daily and weekly basis, and write them down. Then make a second list, brainstorming other simple, doable habits you could cultivate for saturating your life in the words of life.
