THE KING IS HERE

Many biblical studies point to that fact that before the birth of Christ, there was a period of silence where there was no widespread revelation, no prophets were hearing from God, and it seemed that God was hiding from His creation. The last verse of the Old Testament is found in Malachi 4:5-6 where it says that the LORD will send Elijah the prophet and that he would turn the hearts of the fathers back to the children and the children back to the fathers. After this, there was silence for a few hundred years. 

Interestingly, this isn’t the end of the story. Although it might have seemed like hope was lost for those who were living during those years, they held on to the promise of the coming Messiah. The One who would save and deliver humanity. 

In Isaiah 9:6, we read a prophecy that was given about Jesus. “For unto us a child is born, a son is given, and the government will be upon His shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” 

How amazing that Jesus came to us after what seemed like a long, dark night. Not only did He come as a child, He came as divinity wrapped in a human cloak. How interesting and wonderful it is that it says the government shall be upon His shoulders! Jesus carried the full authority of His divinity even as a small baby born in Bethlehem in a manger. This tells us who He is. Even the angels joined in to proclaim the good news to all creation! 

My song, “The King Is Here”, really reflects this truth more than I realized while it was being written. The verses talk about the earth awakening, the darkness breaking, the heavens standing to their feet, and the skies being filled with His holy praises. The chorus invites God’s people and all creation to join in this song of invitation. All of these lines together describe a great big WELCOME to the King of Kings, Jesus. 

As the body of Christ, we get this amazing privilege of welcoming Him into our hearts to live with us now and forever. My prayer for you today is that you would encounter and experience Him personally. Remember today that He came for you to show you His great and unfailing love that saves, heals, delivers, and gives you freedom. He’s here!
