Journeying With Jesus - 40 Days Lent DevotionalSample

One dead man, eleven disciples who had disappeared from the scene, and a couple women who hung out in the background. Somehow, this motley group posed a threat to the powerful chief priests, Pharisees and, even, Pilate.
Insecurity flooded them as they took extra measures to secure Jesus’ tomb. But we all know how that turned out. When God decrees that the tomb is empty, the tomb will be empty.
Nothing can thwart God’s plans. No weapon formed against us can prosper. God keeps his promises. Right from Genesis, there are more than 300 prophecies about Jesus’ life, death and resurrection. And he fulfilled every one of them.
God keeps his Word. Nothing can get in his way.
Bringing It Home
Where is my focus today? Is it on my dead-end circumstances, or on my God who rose from the dead?
Lean In
Mighty God, Often, I tend to get disillusioned by closed doors and dead ends. My eyes see what is in front of me: the powers that be getting more powerful at the expense of others. But help me to believe that all things work together for the good of those who love you and who have been called by you. You’re a God who keeps his Word. Amen

About this Plan

‘Journeying With Jesus’ is a Bible plan to help us walk with Jesus through the last two chapters of Matthew. We stop to focus on Jesus' last days on this earth and what that means to us. How does that change who I am and Whose I am today? We will take time to dwell on Scripture and “bring it home” with questions that make us consider where we are on the journey of knowing Jesus.
