God Is On Your Side

DAY 4 OF 7

God is Fair and Just

So far in this reading plan, you’ve been able to see in Scripture how God is with you when you feel alone and how to walk through unfair circumstances with others. But when you are going through those moments of doubt, holding promises about who God is will be vital to holding firm in the faith.

When having doubts about God’s fairness in a situation, we must remember what we read in the Bible about God’s character. Deuteronomy 32:4 gives us a powerful and beautiful promise that God is fair and just and right. That all His ways are perfect.

I’m reminded of the parable in Luke 18 of the persistent widow. She was a woman on her own in life; certainly marginalized as an elderly woman. She came to a judge that was not considered righteous, to ask for justice against her adversary.

The judge refused her the justice she sought but time and again she came with her request. It was because of her persistence that the judge finally granted her the justice she sought. What Jesus reminds us after communicating the parable is so encouraging:

And the Lord said, ‘Hear what the unrighteous judge says. And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily.’”

We can have confidence that our God is just, that He wants to respond on our behalf. We can have confidence that we serve a Father who is good and perfect and longs to give good gifts to His children.

I know your circumstances might seem unfair at times, but be assured that God will not let sin or injustice or unfairness stand. You might not see how He acts on your behalf but know that He will. It’s in His character to be just and stand for righteousness.
