No Greater Love 

In cities across America, there are law enforcement officers who go to work in one of the most volatile societies in human history. This is the most visible demonstration of love for humankind in our modern times. For those who pay the ultimate sacrifice, theirs is never forgotten. There is no greater love than the love a person exemplifies by giving his or her life for another human being. 

What motivates you in all you do? Is it money? Is it the desire to be successful? This is a calling. Somewhere, someday, you may look back and complain about the path you took that led you to this moment. Will you regret the decision to love? Or will it be the decision to resent others?

I challenge you to not only do an immediate inventory of your heart and soul today, but to also do a regular inventory to ensure your motives are pure. Like you have heard many times before, the path down the slippery slope begins with one small innocent step. Let all you do be done in love. Even when you must become a violent warrior, let the love you have for those innocent people, your brothers and sisters in battle, and those at home, be your motivating guide. 

Heavenly Father, help me to never tarnish the pure sacrifice given by those who have given their lives for the freedom and protection of others. Amen.
