Love God Greatly-Fear & AnxietySample

READ: Isaiah 54:17, 1 Peter 5:8-9, John 10:10
SOAP: Isaiah 54:17
When we experience fear and anxiety, our body and soul feel as if they are at war. We sometimes forget that there is a struggle that goes beyond the flesh at hand. As believers, we face a spiritual enemy who seeks to destroy. The adversary does not lie in wait but instead hunts us down like a hungry beast. To feel apprehensive would seem natural.
Though we have an enemy who aims to harm, we do not have to fear. Jesus warns His disciples of the devil, but He tells them there is a solution: Him. Jesus came so we could not just survive the attacks of Satan. He lived, died, and rose again so we could experience life fully.
Knowing Jesus is how we can experience life. We have a responsibility as believers to guard against the schemes of the devil. The Bible tells us that we are to be self-controlled and alert. While the threat is real, our defense is powerful. God has given us with the ability to resist and stand firm in our faith.
When is the last time you thought about the fact that there is a spiritual battle taking place? The next time you feel anxious, try to remember that even though the enemy wars against us, God promises that ultimately, he will fail. How can knowing the truth of God’s Word help you in times of fear?
Father God, thank You for sending Your Son to give me life. Thank you for giving me a battle plan when the enemy strikes. Give me the strength to stand firm in my faith even when I feel weak. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
