It's Time to Take the Promised Land Sample
GOD'S PROMISES TO US
It still can be really tough to put this into action. You look at the promises of God and they’re amazing. But then you look at the reality of your own life and think, how could they ever happen for me?
Last time, we looked at the impossibility of the promises that God made to a towering figure in history, Abram. But you know something? God led Abram through a journey… and He will do the same for you.
I’ll say it again. This is not a theory lesson. This is about the rubber hitting the road. So, in today’s devotional, we’re going to uncover what it actually means to enter God’s Promised Land in today’s world. We’re not going to fly to Israel. Oh, no. The Promised Land is much closer than that.
Once Jesus was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God was coming, and he answered, “The kingdom of God is not coming with things that can be observed; nor will they say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or ‘There it is!’ For, in fact, the kingdom of God is among you” (Luke 17:20-21).
See that? The Promised Land that Jesus was talking about wasn’t something that’s out there. It’s not a new house or a new car or a new government for that matter. The Promised Land is the Kingdom of God – the rule of God in our hearts.
Again, Jesus explained it this way:
“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which someone found and hid; then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field” (Matthew 13:44).
So, the Promised Land is like a treasure. It’s a treasure in our hearts; it’s our relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
Under a glorious night sky, God led Abram to a point of faith and wrote His promise on Abram’s heart; a promise that this faithful, but flawed, man of God believed; a promise that God delivered.
You and I are each under our own patch of that starry heaven today and the Lord is whispering His Promised Land into our hearts. It’s a land purchased by Jesus on that cross, a land of blessing that goes on forever. The Spirit of God will write that on your heart if you let Him.
He’ll give you the faith to believe if you’ll just ask Him.

- Have you ever thought about the fact that God’s Promised Land is within you, a treasure that you can keep in your heart? How do you respond to that thought?
- As you look up at the stars like Abram did and realise how much God loves you, what are the promises that He’s writing on your heart?
- Finish with a prayer: Lord, I ask you to write your promises on my heart, by your Spirit and your Word. Lead me through my wilderness journeys in the most amazing way, so that my life will speak to others of who you are. Amen.
