Christ Crucified

DAY 8 OF 21

Freedom from Curses

There was a good believer girl, who loved Jesus, prayed, spent time in the Word, was part of a church, learned about spiritual warfare yet had regular demonic visitations at night. Her life was filled with misery and torment in spite of doing all the right things. The reason: generational curse.

On counseling, her pastor found out that her grandfather had been an abortionist – a medical doctor who had aborted hundreds of babies. The girl’s father, therefore, carried a murderous spirit and tried to strangle this girl when she was a one year old! Now, these same spirits were trying to enter her and continue the torment.

Both blessings and curses are major themes of Scripture. The word ‘bless’ or ‘blessing’ occurs more than 410 times in the Bible. The word ‘curse’ occurs nearly 160 times. Both are absolutely real.

Deuteronomy 30:19 – “...I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing, therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.”

Sin and disobedience bring curses upon our lives and even affects our generations to come.

Galatians 3:13-14 – “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus...”

According to the Scriptures, everyone who is put to death by hanging on a tree is under a curse. The word ‘tree’ also signifies a piece of wood that makes a Cross.

In this divinely ordained exchange, Christ took the curse due to our sin and disobedience, so that we in return, through faith in Him, might have access to the blessing that was due to him because of his perfect obedience!

Declare:

  • I choose blessing instead of cursing and life instead of death. - Deuteronomy 11:26
  • I am redeemed from the curse of the law. - Galatians 3:13
  • The destroyer cannot come into my life or family in the name of Jesus. - Exodus 12:23
  • My soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowler. - Psalm 124:7
  • I break and release myself from all generational curses and iniquities as a result of the sins of my ancestors in the name of Jesus.
  • I break and release myself from all curses of pride and rebellion in the name of Jesus.
  • I break all curses on my finances from any ancestors that cheated or mishandled money in the name of Jesus.
  • I break all curses of sickness and disease and command all inherited sickness to leave my body in the name of Jesus.
  • I break all spoken curses and negative words that I have spoken over my life in the name of Jesus. I break all spoken curses and negative words spoken over my life by others, including those in authority in the name of Jesus.
  • I command every demon hiding and operating behind a curse to come out in the name of Jesus.

Pray:

  • Pray for 1000 strong families in the church that would serve the Lord like Joshua.
  • Pray that each family in the church would honour Jesus as Lord.
