Holy Week, A House Abandoned - Disciple Makers Series #23Sample

Holy Week, A House Abandoned - Disciple Makers Series #23

DAY 4 OF 6

Jesus gave us a promise...believe it.

Thoughts on the message

Jesus gives some more information about what will happen.

First, people will claim to be the Messiah – they will deceive many people. Do not be one of them. Jesus will not come back as a regular person again.

Second, Jesus will come but it will be as the Messiah from heaven. He will appear to the whole world, He will come in power and authority, He will come with signs in the sky and He will come to take us with Him.

Third, Jesus gives us the picture of a fig tree. When we see these things happening (the things we read in Matthew 24), then get ready. Jesus is getting ready to come as well.

Jesus says something very important at the end – His words will never pass away. There are several places in the Bible where God says His word will never pass away. Believe it. So as you read the Bible – God’s Word to us – remember that His promises will never fail. Remember that His mercy and grace toward us never fail. Remember that He promised to come back for us. Read it… and let God’s Word encourage you and strengthen you when you struggle in faith.

Prayer

Father, today I read this passage and I am encouraged. I know that You will keep Your Word to me. I may have to wait (just like we do for Jesus to come back), but Your Word to me will never fail. So strengthen my heart to listen carefully as I read. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

About this Plan

Holy Week, A House Abandoned - Disciple Makers Series #23

Matthew writes to God’s people and walks them on a journey that will take them from where they are to be Disciple Makers. This is 23 of 27 devotional plans walking us through the book of Matthew.  In this portion, Jesus rejects His house and promises that He will come again to His house. Next time He comes, it will be as King of Kings! Be ready.
