No one said following Jesus was going to be easy! He told us we would have trouble and sorrow! “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 (NLT) 

While we may experience much joy, there are times we suffer. We may face trouble or misfortune. We may feel abandoned. Alone. Afraid. Some people find heartache too much to take and fall away. Many of Jesus’ own disciples turned away from Him. 

The Apostle John tells of such a time in John 6.

The disciples had been with Jesus for some time. They heard Him speak life. They witnessed Him heal, comfort and raise people from the dead. “You have the words of eternal life!” Peter said. 

Jesus’s words and promises are for us today! He tells us to take heart! He has overcome the world! He declared in Matthew 28:20 

There is reason to rejoice! Jesus has the words of eternal life. He makes them available to His people. John 15:11 You, too, can have a new song in your soul! It begins when you breathe in Your word of life!
