PRAY FOR THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM

The city of Jerusalem….just thinking about walking her streets makes my heart race. The sights, sounds, and smells of Jerusalem are unlike any other place in the world. It’s as if every sense you have is on full alert—an eager expectation for what is about to happen. From praying at the Western Wall among the devout Jews, to the hustle and bustle of the Arab quarter, to the quieter Christian quarter….Jerusalem never disappoints. It’s always a true lady, full of much mystery and beauty….always.

I often wondered why God told us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. I assumed it was probably linked to all of the news stories and constant reports of turmoil covering the papers. However, He has shown me it is so much more than that….our story is linked to their story. A prayer for Jerusalem is a prayer for the world, for the Church, for you….it’s more than just peace….it’s about everyone finding what the Jews have been looking for.. The ONE THING that actually was born into their midst, yet they didn’t see Him or recognize who He was.  They are still looking to this day….frantically looking…Oh Jerusalem, peace is not a state of being you long for….it’s a person. You yearn for peace in your spirit. You long for Jesus … He is the Prince of Peace.
