1728 BC Joseph (17) angers his brothers and almost loses his life. He is sold into slavery, taken to Egypt and then to prison. Judah marries but later, blindly, lies with his own daughter-in-law.
Note Genesis 37:28–36: The Midianites and Ishmaelites were both descendants of Abraham, and were evidently travelling together. For some reason the Ishmaelites did the buying and the Midianites the selling.
