Note 1: Manna was a perfect food, highly nutritious, designed by God for the human body. But the people hankered for the rich food of Egypt, especially meat. Note 2: The tribe of Amalek was descended from Esau’s grandson. They attacked weary stragglers (Deuteronomy 25:18) and robbed them of their Egyptian treasure (Exodus 12:35-36).
