DAY 106 OF 221

When reading through Proverbs, it becomes very clear, very quickly that the key to understanding—whether each other, our culture, or even God—stems from having wisdom and understanding its value in our lives. Chapter 4 of Proverbs is broken into a couple of different parts. This first section—running through verse 9—paints for us a picture of what it looks like to pass wisdom down from one generation to the next.

Specifically, verse 7 focuses in on the motivation for wisdom and the willingness to chase after it and do whatever it takes to gain understanding. Knowledge and understanding will not come by passively waiting, they are gained by actively seeking.

As people on mission for Christ, we, of course, must have enthusiasm, confidence, and strength. But we must also have wisdom and understanding. We must be students of the world around us. It is not enough to simply know the gospel and how to talk about Jesus. It is not enough to exude confidence and boldness when preaching the gospel to anyone who will listen. It is not enough be willing to walk up to a stranger and strike up a conversation and turn it into a spiritual awakening. All of those are great and necessary. But we must continually seek to learn more about the people around the world and in our own backyard.

About this Plan

Journey Witnesses

Because ignoring the great commission is not an option. Jesus left us with the great responsibility to go and make disciples, to be witnesses, and to be his hands and feet in this world. Don’t leave something so important to chance. This reading plan is created to help you make disciples who make disciples. Use this reading plan the Awana Journey Bible Study book entitled Witnesses.
