DAY 113 OF 221

Peter designed and wrote this letter to Christians living in Rome and experiencing some intense persecution for believing in Jesus. Yet for Peter, it was the grace of God that would provide sufficient comfort in times of trouble. No matter what the Roman Empire could throw at them, the grace of God found only in Christ would be enough. Much of this letter is focused on the believers’ actions towards the rest of the world. In other words, how should people looking in from the outside see the grace of God manifested in the lives of God’s people?

These verses help us to see that even in the midst of injustice or wrongdoing, believers in Christ ought to continue to persevere in the life God has called each of us to. Freedom is not necessarily freedom from the world’s prisons, but the freedom found in Christ. This freedom from the world, freedom from hatred, bitterness, or retribution, is a gift available and intended for every person. Therefore every person is deserving of dignity and respect, regardless of their treatment or actions toward us. That is the grace and love Christ showed toward us.

About this Plan

Journey Witnesses

Because ignoring the great commission is not an option. Jesus left us with the great responsibility to go and make disciples, to be witnesses, and to be his hands and feet in this world. Don’t leave something so important to chance. This reading plan is created to help you make disciples who make disciples. Use this reading plan the Awana Journey Bible Study book entitled Witnesses.
