Journey Witnesses

DAY 141 OF 221

God created. It is how the entire story of God begins, with a detailed description of God’s creative nature making all there is. The first chapter in Genesis is designed to introduce us to not only God and His creation, but it is designed to introduce us to humanity. This introduction is vital to how we come to understand the nature of the gospel and our salvation in Christ. Like any great story, we are given a glimpse, though only for a moment, of God’s unique and special creation, built just as He intended.

The text of Genesis takes special care to be clear that humanity is set apart from the rest of creation. The flow of Chapter 1 almost seems to rush through the rest of creation in order to get to humanity. God wants to make certain that we understand our origin and unique design—that we are created in His image.

The creation of humanity on day six is the climax of creation. Humanity would be the prize of creation, valued more than anything else. Although our thoughts and actions may not be completely unique in every conceivable way, as divine image bearers we are, in fact, incredibly unique. Each one of us is an original thought of God designed to reflect the originality of God. Who God has made you to be is exactly who He wants you to be. The uniqueness of you is exactly how God intended for the gospel to make it to the ends of the earth.

About this Plan

Journey Witnesses

Because ignoring the great commission is not an option. Jesus left us with the great responsibility to go and make disciples, to be witnesses, and to be his hands and feet in this world. Don’t leave something so important to chance. This reading plan is created to help you make disciples who make disciples. Use this reading plan the Awana Journey Bible Study book entitled Witnesses.
