Why Do We Celebrate Easter?Sample

Why Do We Celebrate Easter?

DAY 5 OF 5

Alleluia. People use this word a lot in church and we hear this word throughout the Bible, but do you know what it really means?

It is a combination of two words; "hallel", which means "to praise" and "yah" taken from "Yahweh" which means "The Lord." So when we say "hallelujah" or "Alleluia" we are really saying "Praise the Lord!" (Both spellings mean the same thing, it just depends on what version of the word you are using.)

Pretty cool, huh? We use this word to celebrate what God is doing or has done in our life. God loves us and cares for us and because of that we can shout "Alleluia!"

Day 4

About this Plan

Why Do We Celebrate Easter?

So what is the big deal with Easter? Isn't it just a fun holiday where we get to eat a lot of candy? Not at all! Easter is the celebration of God's love for us! He sent His son, Jesus, to Earth to be the sacrifice, once and for all, so that we could spend eternity in Heaven with Him! Using new and familiar songs, this reading plan tells the story of God's love.
