Bad Girls RehabSample
"Rahab"
Women, the emotional creatures we are, often get hung up on the mistakes of our past. At times, we allow these mistakes to define us. We forget, even negate, the fact that we are created in God’s image. If this is you, I believe the “Bad Girl” for the day has a lesson to share.
What do you think of when you hear the name Rahab? For most women, the reference of a prostitute immediately pops into their thoughts. I mean, how could it not, even in the Bible she is referred to as “Rahab, the prostitute”.
Nevertheless, the lesson that we learn from her is that faith in God transforms. Now let’s be clear, we don’t know a lot about Rahab.
Here are a few things we do know:
1. She hid the spies sent by Joshua. In turn, she made a declaration of faith.
2. She is the mother of Boaz, who functions as a kinsmen redeemer in the book of Ruth.
3. She is listed in the “Hall of Faith” found in Hebrews 11.
4. The book of Matthew lists Rahab in the lineage of Jesus Christ.
The key points above show us that there is new life in Christ. The Apostle Paul would say something like, “The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” 2 Corinthians 5:17
Sisters, I don’t know what your past consists of, but I am fully convinced that it is not beyond the grace of God. Run to God and allow his renewing power to transform you. It is there where restoration is found.
