 <div class="label">8</div><div class="s1">The Ordination of Aaron and His Sons</div><div class="p">1The Lord said to Moses, 2&#8220;Bring Aaron and his sons, their garments, the anointing oil, the bull for the sin offering,#8:2 Or purification offering; also in verse 14 the two rams and the basket containing bread made without yeast, 3and gather the entire assembly at the entrance to the tent of meeting.&#8221; 4Moses did as the Lord commanded him, and the assembly gathered at the entrance to the tent of meeting.</div><div class="p">5Moses said to the assembly, &#8220;This is what the Lord has commanded to be done.&#8221; 6Then Moses brought Aaron and his sons forward and washed them with water. 7He put the tunic on Aaron, tied the sash around him, clothed him with the robe and put the ephod on him. He also fastened the ephod with a decorative waistband, which he tied around him. 8He placed the breastpiece on him and put the Urim and Thummim in the breastpiece. 9Then he placed the turban on Aaron&#8217;s head and set the gold plate, the sacred emblem, on the front of it, as the Lord commanded Moses.</div><div class="p">10Then Moses took the anointing oil and anointed the tabernacle and everything in it, and so consecrated them. 11He sprinkled some of the oil on the altar seven times, anointing the altar and all its utensils and the basin with its stand, to consecrate them. 12He poured some of the anointing oil on Aaron&#8217;s head and anointed him to consecrate him. 13Then he brought Aaron&#8217;s sons forward, put tunics on them, tied sashes around them and fastened caps on them, as the Lord commanded Moses.</div><div class="p">14He then presented the bull for the sin offering, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on its head. 15Moses slaughtered the bull and took some of the blood, and with his finger he put it on all the horns of the altar to purify the altar. He poured out the rest of the blood at the base of the altar. So he consecrated it to make atonement for it. 16Moses also took all the fat around the internal organs, the long lobe of the liver, and both kidneys and their fat, and burned it on the altar. 17But the bull with its hide and its flesh and its intestines he burned up outside the camp, as the Lord commanded Moses.</div><div class="p">18He then presented the ram for the burnt offering, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on its head. 19Then Moses slaughtered the ram and splashed the blood against the sides of the altar. 20He cut the ram into pieces and burned the head, the pieces and the fat. 21He washed the internal organs and the legs with water and burned the whole ram on the altar. It was a burnt offering, a pleasing aroma, a food offering presented to the Lord, as the Lord commanded Moses.</div><div class="p">22He then presented the other ram, the ram for the ordination, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on its head. 23Moses slaughtered the ram and took some of its blood and put it on the lobe of Aaron&#8217;s right ear, on the thumb of his right hand and on the big toe of his right foot. 24Moses also brought Aaron&#8217;s sons forward and put some of the blood on the lobes of their right ears, on the thumbs of their right hands and on the big toes of their right feet. Then he splashed blood against the sides of the altar. 25After that, he took the fat, the fat tail, all the fat around the internal organs, the long lobe of the liver, both kidneys and their fat and the right thigh. 26And from the basket of bread made without yeast, which was before the Lord, he took one thick loaf, one thick loaf with olive oil mixed in, and one thin loaf, and he put these on the fat portions and on the right thigh. 27He put all these in the hands of Aaron and his sons, and they waved them before the Lord as a wave offering. 28Then Moses took them from their hands and burned them on the altar on top of the burnt offering as an ordination offering, a pleasing aroma, a food offering presented to the Lord. 29Moses also took the breast, which was his share of the ordination ram, and waved it before the Lord as a wave offering, as the Lord commanded Moses.</div><div class="p">30Then Moses took some of the anointing oil and some of the blood from the altar and sprinkled them on Aaron and his garments and on his sons and their garments. So he consecrated Aaron and his garments and his sons and their garments.</div><div class="p">31Moses then said to Aaron and his sons, &#8220;Cook the meat at the entrance to the tent of meeting and eat it there with the bread from the basket of ordination offerings, as I was commanded: &#8216;Aaron and his sons are to eat it.&#8217; 32Then burn up the rest of the meat and the bread. 33Do not leave the entrance to the tent of meeting for seven days, until the days of your ordination are completed, for your ordination will last seven days. 34What has been done today was commanded by the Lord to make atonement for you. 35You must stay at the entrance to the tent of meeting day and night for seven days and do what the Lord requires, so you will not die; for that is what I have been commanded.&#8221;</div><div class="p">36So Aaron and his sons did everything the Lord commanded through Moses.</div>

This was the offering of Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai.</div><div class="b"></div><div class="m">72On the eleventh day Pagiel son of Okran, the leader of the people of Asher, brought his offering.</div><div class="mi">73His offering was one silver plate weighing a hundred and thirty shekels and one silver sprinkling bowl weighing seventy shekels, both according to the sanctuary shekel, each filled with the finest flour mixed with olive oil as a grain offering; 74one gold dish weighing ten shekels, filled with incense; 75one young bull, one ram and one male lamb a year old for a burnt offering; 76one male goat for a sin offering; 77and two oxen, five rams, five male goats and five male lambs a year old to be sacrificed as a fellowship offering. This was the offering of Pagiel son of Okran.</div><div class="b"></div><div class="m">78On the twelfth day Ahira son of Enan, the leader of the people of Naphtali, brought his offering.</div><div class="mi">79His offering was one silver plate weighing a hundred and thirty shekels and one silver sprinkling bowl weighing seventy shekels, both according to the sanctuary shekel, each filled with the finest flour mixed with olive oil as a grain offering; 80one gold dish weighing ten shekels, filled with incense; 81one young bull, one ram and one male lamb a year old for a burnt offering; 82one male goat for a sin offering; 83and two oxen, five rams, five male goats and five male lambs a year old to be sacrificed as a fellowship offering. This was the offering of Ahira son of Enan.</div><div class="b"></div><div class="p">84These were the offerings of the Israelite leaders for the dedication of the altar when it was anointed: twelve silver plates, twelve silver sprinkling bowls and twelve gold dishes. 85Each silver plate weighed a hundred and thirty shekels, and each sprinkling bowl seventy shekels. Altogether, the silver dishes weighed two thousand four hundred shekels,#7:85 That is, about 60 pounds or about 28 kilograms according to the sanctuary shekel. 86The twelve gold dishes filled with incense weighed ten shekels each, according to the sanctuary shekel. Altogether, the gold dishes weighed a hundred and twenty shekels.#7:86 That is, about 3 pounds or about 1.4 kilograms 87The total number of animals for the burnt offering came to twelve young bulls, twelve rams and twelve male lambs a year old, together with their grain offering. Twelve male goats were used for the sin offering. 88The total number of animals for the sacrifice of the fellowship offering came to twenty-four oxen, sixty rams, sixty male goats and sixty male lambs a year old. These were the offerings for the dedication of the altar after it was anointed.</div><div class="p">89When Moses entered the tent of meeting to speak with the Lord, he heard the voice speaking to him from between the two cherubim above the atonement cover on the ark of the covenant law. In this way the Lord spoke to him.</div>

 <div class="p">1The Lord spoke to Moses in the Desert of Sinai in the first month of the second year after they came out of Egypt. He said, 2&#8220;Have the Israelites celebrate the Passover at the appointed time. 3Celebrate it at the appointed time, at twilight on the fourteenth day of this month, in accordance with all its rules and regulations.&#8221;</div><div class="p">4So Moses told the Israelites to celebrate the Passover, 5and they did so in the Desert of Sinai at twilight on the fourteenth day of the first month. The Israelites did everything just as the Lord commanded Moses.</div><div class="p">6But some of them could not celebrate the Passover on that day because they were ceremonially unclean on account of a dead body. So they came to Moses and Aaron that same day 7and said to Moses, &#8220;We have become unclean because of a dead body, but why should we be kept from presenting the Lord&#8217;s offering with the other Israelites at the appointed time?&#8221;</div><div class="p">8Moses answered them, &#8220;Wait until I find out what the Lord commands concerning you.&#8221;</div><div class="p">9Then the Lord said to Moses, 10&#8220;Tell the Israelites: &#8216;When any of you or your descendants are unclean because of a dead body or are away on a journey, they are still to celebrate the Lord&#8217;s Passover, 11but they are to do it on the fourteenth day of the second month at twilight. They are to eat the lamb, together with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. 12They must not leave any of it till morning or break any of its bones. When they celebrate the Passover, they must follow all the regulations. 13But if anyone who is ceremonially clean and not on a journey fails to celebrate the Passover, they must be cut off from their people for not presenting the Lord&#8217;s offering at the appointed time. They will bear the consequences of their sin.</div><div class="p">14&#8220;&#8198;&#8216;A foreigner residing among you is also to celebrate the Lord&#8217;s Passover in accordance with its rules and regulations. You must have the same regulations for both the foreigner and the native-born.&#8217;&#8198;&#8221;</div>

The people registered their ancestry by their clans and families, and the men twenty years old or more were listed by name, one by one, 19as the Lord commanded Moses.
