Wisdom: The Principle ThingSample

The Art of Laziness
If there is one trait we have inherited as a human race in general and have successfully followed through with, it is the art of laziness. Laziness is the quality of being unwilling to work or use energy; in other words, it is idleness. It is a true statement that the one that puts off work is the one who puts on poverty. We are the handiwork of God – we are His creation. The ant shares in this as well, being one of God’s creatures. But even with it being so much more significantly smaller than us, Solomon calls his son and us, the readers, to observe its ways and diligence (Proverbs 6:6).
Ants and Accountability
If we stop a moment to think, we are called to compare our work ethic and diligence to an insect. A humbling thought for someone like myself who is notorious for wanting to hit the snooze button in the morning rather than obey its beckoning call. I have been convicted of letting precious time go by, awake or asleep, that could have been used doing something productive (Proverbs 6:9). We need to make better use of our time on Earth and steward it well. Each man has an appointed time to live here on Earth, and what we do with this time we will give an account for (2 Corinthians 5:10).
