DAY 8 OF 30

Read Matthew 9:27–36

27 As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, calling out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!”
28 When he had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and he asked them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?”
“Yes, Lord,” they replied.
29 Then he touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith let it be done to you”; 30 and their sight was restored. Jesus warned them sternly, “See that no one knows about this.” 31 But they went out and spread the news about him all over that region.
32 While they were going out, a man who was demon-possessed and could not talk was brought to Jesus. 33 And when the demon was driven out, the man who had been mute spoke. The crowd was amazed and said, “Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel.”
34 But the Pharisees said, “It is by the prince of demons that he drives out demons.”
35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and illness. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

Making A Difference

Elizabeth had been very embarrassed. Trying to escape her painful situation, she caught a bus out of town, but couldn’t stop crying. She didn’t even notice when the bus came to a stop. A passenger sitting behind her began making his way off the bus, but suddenly stopped, turned, and walked back to Elizabeth. He handed her his Bible, saying that he thought she might need it. He was right. She needed the Saviour the Bible talks about. Because of this small gift from a stranger, Elizabeth came to know Jesus.

Jesus is our example of kindness. In Matthew 9:36, we read that “When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd”. When Jesus saw the pain and hurt of broken people, He did something about it.

Showing kindness, just like Jesus did, can help us make a real difference in the lives of the people around us. —BC

Simple acts of kindness can introduce others to Jesus.

And… Action!

Think of one act of kindness you can do today. It could be writing someone an encouraging note, or giving something to someone who needs it. And remind that person that Jesus loves him or her!
