Songs Of PraiseSample
Songwriters
The word Psalm can be translated as song or as the word praise, literally, praise songs. King David wrote many of these and they were sent to his chief musician to be put to music and sung in the temple. The number of songs that have been written down through the ages from the words of the Psalms are too numerous to count. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to write a truly inspired song that transcended the ages? You can if you follow David’s instruction in Psalm 65.
First David tells us that this is a song of praise to come or praise not yet performed. It is anticipated praise, meaning praise for things that God will do and since it is your song, it is about what God will do in your life. It is a song about the works of God as the Conquering King. He will conquer sin, provide atonement, create an eternal dwelling place for us and bless us with goodness. What has God conquered for you?
Second, we see that this is a song of praise to the Creator. The One who answers our prayers by His deeds; who created the mountains, the seas, and the people; and who will bring all unto Himself with rejoicing. It is a song about the works of God as the Creator King. What has God created for you?
Third, this is a song of praise from His creation – you and me. The Earth and the inhabitants of the Earth will sing this song in anticipation of His visit. When He comes He will flood the earth with blessings and He will bring goodness. This is a song about the works of God the Coming King who will restore His creation and cause His creation to sing. What does the Coming King mean to you?
Now look back over the list of the works of God in your life as well as the list of the works of God in the Psalm. The foundation of your song can be found in the word thanksgiving – a thankful heart for all the works God has done for you. You are a songwriter and your song is your life. You have a song to sing of God and His love and work in your life and others need to hear it. So sing it out!
When you write your song of the love and work of God in your life… Will you sing it?
