The AscentSample

WHILE WE WAIT
On our journey through life, we take one step after the other. Even when we can’t see how to get to the goal ahead, we can do something today. Hope is not passive. Waiting on the Lord is not about sitting down, doing nothing and just waiting for circumstances around us to change.
Our hope is in the Lord, in His Word. We believe that God will be faithful to His Word, that we can trust Him to keep what He has promised. Our hope is in a Person, not in an event.
So though we might experience disappointment and setbacks, our hope is not defined by that, but by the word of God. Hope can be a quiet confidence, while we are waiting, while we take one step after another.

About this Plan

The Ascent… is an invitation to climb. It’s an invitation to proximity. It’s an invitation to intimacy. In the Old Testament there are 15 psalms of ascent. They are songs that Israel sang on their way to celebrate God at festivals. They express amazing grace and they quiet anxious fears. They are songs that provide courage and support as we travel the road of faith and discover who we are and what God’s called us to. It has been said that the Psalms of Ascent are like placing your feet in the footprints of others and reminding ourselves to be moved again; to keep walking forward in the direction of God. This devotional is an invitation to lift our eyes and to ascend the heights; to becoming Jesus’ climbing companions.
