Day 5: A Glimpse of Love - So loved
Love is a really difficult thing to define isn’t it?
I love apples. I love sunrises. I love my mom.
But when someone says “I love you”, what do they mean, and maybe a deeper question; how do we know the extent of someone's love for us?
How do we grasp its significance? How do we discover the depth of it?
We can know the depth of someone’s love by what it costs them. How much does their love expressed cost them?
We can know the depth of someone’s love by how little the recipients deserves it. Has the person who receives love done something to deserve it?
We can know the depth of someone’s love by the greatness of the undeserved benefit for the recipient. What is the magnitude of the gift received?
When we see the answers to these question in light of the love God has for us, we catch a glimpse of how greatly we're loved.
The great King, born into a stable to save the world. The greatest gift, given to an undeserving world. Life eternal, offered to you and to me. What a cost. How little we deserved it. How great a gift.
May we know and believe this love is for us.
But not only that, this glimpse of love, born into chaos, would be the very light that would transform the world.
When we allow this love into our lives, it changes us.
"What you love determines who you become. Who you love will shape your life." Erwin McManus
Love changes us, it can change all of us.
REFLECTION QUESTION:
What areas of your life can you allow the love of God to begin to flicker, to be lit, so that it's light can change you?

About this Plan
We invite you to join us in preparing room in our hearts for Christ. It’s the cry of our hearts to which God responds with His Son, “Emmanuel” - God is with us. Giving time and attention to the coming Light of the world can spark a tiny hope, ignite a thrill of joy and give us a glimpse of love in a time that otherwise may be exhausting, overwhelming and stressful.
