Joshua had sent spies into Jericho to check it out for conquest. Withing the wall was the house of Rahab the prostitute which the spies went to stay out. Let's look at this closer. Rahab lived on the outskirts of town, you can't be any further on the outskirts of town than living in the wall that surrounds the town. Can you imangine how Rahab felt used by the men of the city and rejected by the women?
