Let Them Have DominionSample
Dressing The Garden.
God charged Adam with the command, “to dress” and “to keep” the garden of Eden. Adam was placed in the garden by God. Before the family was formed, God charged Adam to cover and to protect the garden. It was Adam’s responsibility to “dress” the home. The word “dress” means “to serve”. Adam was to serve the house as He served and honored God. Adam was tasked by God to ensure the affairs of the household were taken care of. At that point, the garden of Eden was the only economy in existence. God gave Adam the charge to serve and to tend to Adam’s economy. God placed Adam as the head to serve, lead and to produce in the garden — economic leadership and governance starts in the garden. God gave Adam the Authority to rule within the confines of His Word. When man‘s actions are in line with God’s Word, his steps and path are ordered by the Lord.
In addition to Adam serving in the garden and tending to everything in it, God also commanded Adam to “keep” the garden, which means “to protect”. Before Adam’s family was formed, it was his responsibility to protect the garden. In addition to physically protecting the garden, it was Adam’s responsibility to be the spiritual leader and protector of God’s Word within the garden. Obedience comes before expansion. God gave Adam the Authority to protect everything within the garden before his wife was presented to Him. Before Eve was handcrafted for Adam, God taught man how to lead before he was promoted to husband. Before the family was formed, Adam had a relationship with God. God Himself taught Adam about spiritual accountability in the garden and how to function in his authority. Adam was accountable to God. When Adam obeyed God, he flourished. When Adam disobeyed God’s Authority, he failed. All Authority and success comes from the adherence to God’s Word. As the head of the house and family, when you submit to God’s Word and His Authority, you position your house and future generations for success. It’s your choice to set up generational patterns of success through your obedience. Or you can choose to establish wilderness cycles and patterns of bondage through your disobedience. Your dominion is based upon your obedience.
