The Wisdom Of The Teacher For Today's College Students, Chapter One

DAY 3 OF 5

College is a time when we experience many new things. At least they are new to us. But the truth is there really isn’t anything new under the sun. There may be new packaging, a new delivery system, or a new drug of choice but those things that we think are new are just remakes of the things our parents and their parents had to deal with in their own generations. Now we are creating new gadgets, but the fact is they just help us know stuff faster or keep us better connected. Before Google there were encyclopedias and before them there were wise old storytellers! The winds still blow, the streams still run to the sea and the eye still sees and is not satisfied nor the ear filled even with all the hearing we do through our ever-present earbuds! We watch our grandparents pass from this life and then we realize that one day that will be us if the Lord doesn’t come back. So, the Teacher challenges us to take a good, long, hard look at our what we set out as the goal of our lives. Because one day we too will depart this life and, in the future, no one will remember us either. That is a sobering reality. So now that we have established that the world doesn’t revolve around us, how can we make sense of this life? The Teacher is going to take us on a reality checked journey to discover the real meaning of life, just hang in there or read ahead if you can’t wait!
