WORD. A 21-day Reading Plan by Doxa Deo.Sample
Day 18
John 17.
The very last prayer Jesus prayed on earth, is profound and very significant for every believer'. It is a conversation between Jesus and the Father regarding us!
Jesus prayed: “Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” (John 17:3 NIV)
Eternal life is not just about heaven; it is about knowing God. Jesus paid the ultimate price so that we could have restored intimate relationship with the Father. Relationship with God is our reward.
Jesus prays that God would protect the disciples from the evil one, that they would be sanctified by the truth and that they may have the full measure of His joy within them.
Lastly, Jesus prays for all believers that we would be in complete unity as the Trinity is in unity. Moreover, He commissions us as believers into the world:
“Just as You commissioned and sent Me into the world, I also have commissioned and sent them (believers) into the world.” (John 17:18 AMP)
For us to be effective in this commission – we need to stand in unity as believers.
How much do you value getting to know God?
How committed are you to this commission that Jesus gave us: to go into the world and bring Jesus’ love to the people in the world?
Pray for the unity among believers, that we would be brought “to complete unity” in God.
