Daily Devotions With Jonathan FalwellSample
Are you facing an uncertain future?
Every one of us gets into situations of turmoil when we feel confused and helpless; it feels as if everything is out of control. We don’t know what to do and maybe we are losing our grip. You might be in that kind of turmoil right now. This feeling could be caused by “over the top” circumstances, relationships that are a mess, finances, even betrayal. In times like these we desperately need a peace that goes way beyond the natural.
In Mark, there is a story of Jesus on the Sea of Galilee with His disciples when a terrible storm came up. Jesus said to the sea “Peace, be still!” and the wind ceased and there was a great calm. In John 14:27, Jesus told His disciples in the Upper Room, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” These men were facing an uncertain future. They were dealing with the idea of His death on the cross and of being left alone….they were in turmoil. But through all of His words, Jesus was saying, “It is going to be ok. I will never leave you or forsake you. You are not alone. Peace, be still!” Friend, no matter where you are this very moment – let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid! He gives us His peace!
