Daily Devotions With Jonathan FalwellSample

Are you ever convicted about what you say?
We all are…or should be. I know I am! Words carry immeasurable significance. The universe was created with a word. Jesus healed and cast out demons with a word. Rulers rise and fall by their words. Christians worship through words of song, confession, and preaching. And today, it’s not only the spoken word, but Tweets, posts and blogs. I think if David were writing Psalm 19 today, he might say it like this-- “Let the words of your mouth, and the meditation of our hearts, and the Tweets from our left hand, and the posts from our right, be pleasing unto you, oh Lord.” Words are free, but it's how we use them that can cost us. We're reminded in James 3 how difficult it is to manage our words, and control our tongue. "People can tame all kinds of animals, birds, reptiles, and fish, but no one can tame the tongue." There you have it. We all mess up, but it’s no excuse. We need to get our words under control, they carry weight!
