Encountering Suffering

DAY 5 OF 5

Finding The Heart Of God

The world is full of suffering. Physical, emotional and spiritual pain is part of the human experience. In fact, Scripture says we can expect hardship and suffering to increase, so we must be prepared. Suffering will indeed come, but God can give us grace and power to overcome every trial. He can help us transform our suffering to fulfill our purpose and mission in His kingdom. Joni Eareckson Tada gives counsel on the meaning of suffering and how we can best endure it.
Listen to Joni
Jesus is the ultimate example of suffering. He faced persecution which led to His crucifixion. Have you ever wondered why God chose to suffer? He did that because He loves us. He did that so we would know He understands us. When you are struggling, in pain, or hurt, remember to turn to Jesus. He alone understands exactly what you are going through. He alone can bring you hope in the midst of that struggle.

Apply

  • Have you looked at your suffering in the light of Scripture?
  • Ask God to help you use your suffering to better fulfil the mission and purpose He has given you?

About this Plan

Encountering Suffering

Jesus said, “In this world you will have trouble, but take heart, I have overcome the world!” This means that everyone will encounter suffering in one form or another. Jesus reminds us to “take heart” because He will be with us every step of the way. The guests in this five-day plan (with audio) share helpful insights on this topic.
