That’s the name of a tune from the swing era by Louis Jordan, who earnestly desired to know if his beloved was interested in a long-term relationship or not. Louis had learned that a relationship cannot be sustained if only one party is putting energy into it.

Does it surprise you to know that God has the same question for his believers? He created us, designed and executed a fabulously successful plan of salvation after our rebellion, brought his Word to us, and even implanted faith in our hearts through the Spirit. Now he seeks a response, and he better not find a yawn and eye rolls from us.

“These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation. I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm--neither hot nor cold--I am about to spit you out of my mouth” (Revelation 3:14-16).

Our faith-relationship with God is life or death; our eternity rides on what we do with the gospel message of Christ. Let your response to God’s declaration of love be as passionate and intense as his. Let God know today, right now, how precious his presence, forgiveness, and gifts are to you.
