Tongue Of The Wise

DAY 6 OF 7

Speak Life And Blessing

Words have power; to lift up, to bless, to inspire and to heal. Use it.

Proverbs 12:18 ‘There is one who speaks like the piercings of a sword, But the tongue of the wise promotes health.’

Proverbs 10:11 ‘The mouth of the righteous is a well of life, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked’.

Proverbs 15:4 ‘A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit.’

These verses highlight the power of words that are wholesome and good. The tongue of the wise can further advance health; it’s "a well of life" means it’s a well from which you draw water which brings refreshing. But in this verse, it is a well that gives water that releases life and blessing. It is also referred to as a tree of life, and in the book of Revelation, the tree of life is for the healing of the nations. This implies that wholesome, clean and encouraging words of a righteous man will promote health and bring life, blessing and healing to people. We become a channel to impart healing, life and blessing to a person when we speak words of appreciation, gratitude, express our apology readily, and bring encouragement. We need to make a conscious effort to speak words meaningfully out of the depths of our heart so that it can bless others.

Let’s pray

Father, we ask that You would help us learn how to speak words so as to impart life and blessing and encouragement and healing and wholeness into others. Help us to use this means that you have given us; help us to use it to bring life and blessing and encouragement to enrich others. In Jesus' name, Amen.

About this Plan

Tongue Of The Wise

We all have regrets on our choice of words in certain situations and carry the guilt of what we have spoken in the past. In this devotional, we will learn the biblical ways to guard our tongue by imploring God to bless us with wisdom to know how to utilize our words in a right manner.
