Reading the Bible in Historical Sequence Part 7Sample

Reading the Bible in Historical Sequence Part 7

DAY 7 OF 31

Micah speaks judgment on Judah’s false rulers and prophets. Isaiah foresees God regathering the exiles, punishing Philistia and Egypt and offering healing if they repent. In 713 BC Sennacherib of Assyria captures Ashdod then besieges Egypt for three years. King Hezekiah attacks and defeats the Philistines. When Assyria seizes some towns in Judah, Hezekiah protects Jerusalem’s water supply and rallies his people, ‘With us is the Lord our God.’

Note: Micah’s fearless preaching to the people of Jerusalem (Micah 3:9–12) is used over 100 years later to save Jeremiah’s life (Jeremiah 26:16–19).
