Goliath

DAY 3 OF 4

Kill Goliath.

According to Strong’s Concordance, Goliath’s name means, “Splendor”. Everything about Goliath was designed to invoke fear and intimidation — his outer appearance was indeed splendid. 1 Samuel 17:4-7 AMPC describes Goliath’s appearance in the following manner: “...Goliath of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span [almost ten feet]. And he had a bronze helmet on his head and wore a coat of mail, and the coat weighed 5,000 shekels of bronze. He had bronze shin armor on his legs and a bronze javelin across his shoulders. And the shaft of his spear was like a weaver's beam; his spear's head weighed 600 shekels of iron. And a shield bearer went before him.” Goliath was designed to strike fear into the heart of his enemy. Don’t focus on the size of Goliath — focus on God.

One of the enemy’s tactics is to defeat you before you start the battle. Overcome fear with faith and start that business, start that ministry, launch that book, release those gifts, do what God has told you to do. Goliath was sent to distract you and to keep you discouraged. Don’t stay stagnant. Keep building. Keep advancing. Keep moving forward.

When the enemy strikes, he tries to assign something that will try to cripple your faith as an attempt to stunt your destiny. You must fight fear with faith. No matter how big the problem may be, you must fight Goliath with faith. When Goliath strikes — only speak faith. Goliath will not fall by your own power or strength, intelligence or influence. Goliath will not fall by your resources and connections. Goliath will only fall by the Power of God. Your skill and might will not bring him down.

This generational behemoth that’s been plaguing your family for generations will only be brought down by the power of God. Bring him down. Cut off his head and take the territory. “Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.” Zechariah 4:6 KJV
