Wisdom Of The Teacher For College Students, Ch. 9Sample
These verses seem to go against all we think brings success in the western mindset. The Teacher is going to demonstrate something that is often overlooked by college students. Namely, that our days are numbered!
Most of you are as strong and as fast as you will ever be. That may be encouraging to some and disheartening to others. Our college years are often the peak years physically for us. Life and careers often pull us away from physical health, although more of us are taking better care of our bodies than ever before.
The Teacher states that having speed, strength, wisdom, intelligence, riches, or skills doesn’t mean we can escape the inevitable consequence of life, namely death. Time and chance get them all the same way!
Just like a fish caught by a net or a bird trapped in a snare, man is taken by death. One moment everything is fine and the next we are no more. The fittest don’t really survive, they just might last a little longer than everyone else or in some cases not as long! Since we don’t know when that day will come, we’d be wise to be prepared for it every day of life!
