The Power To Tread

“Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you.” Luke 10:19 AMPC

God has given you the authority and the power to tread and to trample over the enemy in every area of your life. You are not defenseless against the wiles of the enemy. God has armed you with authority and power to defeat and to overcome the snares and traps of the enemy in every area of your life.

When you are in Christ, every demonic force that tries to infiltrate your life has no power or authority over you. In fact, when the enemy attempts to invade any area of your life, he is trespassing. According to Luke 10:19 KJV, Christ gave us the power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. 

According to Strong’s Concordance, the Greek word for “Tread” is “Pateō” (G3961) which means, “to advance by setting foot upon”. Christ has given us the power to set our feet upon the enemy and to advance upon his territory with authority, power, strength and confidence. There is no need to fear when you’re taking on the enemy's territory and advancing upon his kingdom — God is with you and He is for you. God is advancing you. 

When it’s time to advance upon the enemy’s camp, God has equipped you and He has authorized you to defeat and to crush the enemy in every area of your life. As a Believer, Satan’s power has no hold over you. The Amplified Version of Luke 10:19 AMPC states, “Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you.” 

Satan’s tactics of fear, condemnation, bitterness, resentment and rejection have no power over you. Satan’s physical attacks have no power over you. Every mental scheme and tactic that the enemy tries to deploy as an attempt to distract you has no power over you. Through Christ, you have the power to conquer the enemy. The New Living Translation of Luke 10:19 NLT puts it this way, “Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you.” 

You have the power to crush the enemy and no weapon that the enemy forms against you will prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Satan has no authority to rule or to function in any area of your life. The Blood of Jesus Christ covers you completely. Tread upon the enemy’s head and crush his kingdom.
