Love Has Come

DAY 1 OF 5

The Hope of Easter

In John 15:13, Jesus told his followers “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” During Easter, we have the opportunity to explore the most significant event of human history: the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. As we do so, we come face-to-face with the greatest story of love ever recorded. Easter is the time we celebrate that love has come!

New Life: The Hope of Easter

There is something about love that makes things feel brand new. Many of us can reflect back on the first time we fell in love. The colors seemed brighter, the music sounded sweater and every day was a good day.

Unfortunately, life has a way of making us go numb. Sin and death wound us, leaving deep and lasting scars. Who hasn’t longed for a second chance at life? Who hasn’t yearned for the chance to start anew?

“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” - 2 Corinthians 5:17

As you read this verse, let your heart soar! Take in this wonderful declaration of love! Jesus has come to bring us abundant life. A life where his love makes all things new, restores the colors that have dimmed, the music that has faded, and the joy that has been lost.

Reflection

What parts of your life do you desire to be made new? How might the love of God bring back hopes, dreams, and desires you’ve counted as lost?

Prayer

Father, you sent your Son because of your incredible love for me. At times, I forget how great your love is and I settle for less. Today I invite you to fill me with your love and to breathe new life into me. Thank you that your love has come!
