Coping With Dwindling FinancesSample

Coping With Dwindling Finances

DAY 5 OF 7

There are general worries that come and go if you allow your mind to settle on them, and then there are specific worries that are related to today. What will I eat? How will I replace my worn-out shoes? How can I buy my transit pass, or a few gallons of gas to get to work? Those worries may not have a long shelf life, but in the moment that are intense and potentially paralyzing to the spirit.

PRAY: Lord, today I have specific bills I have to pay, and I need to eat.

Before you let worry take root, hear Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew:

READ: Matthew 6:31, 32b

REFLECT: So worry has a starting point. What triggers your worry? What can you do to be proactive in the face of those repeatable worry triggers?

RESPOND: If your Father in heaven knows what you need, what can you do today to communicate your trust in his care for you?

About this Plan

Coping With Dwindling Finances

When it seems like your finances are out of control—when it feels like there’s no way to find a sense of peace—you can turn to the solace of Scripture. Even when it seems to us like God doesn’t see our burdens—we discover that he feels our heartaches. He intimately understands our anxieties and worries. And he wants us to bring those worries to him.
